Abstract:
High-frequency Ultrasound systems are used widely in clinical dermatology for the assessment of tumoral and inflammatory processes of the skin, providing information in the axial and lateral extension. Ultrasound is good for the detection and verification of tumors and other morphological changes in the skin, the subcutaneous tissue and in lymph node basins. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is another noninvasive diagnostic method that offers a view into the superficial layers of the skin in vivo in real-time. An infrared broadband light source allows the investigation of skin architecture for the evaluation of skin lesions, especially non-melanoma skin cancers and inflammatory diseases.
In this seminar, our speaker will introduce the latest technology development especially on their recent breakthrough in OCT, which can provide cross-sectional image of skin with higher ultrasound and which needs no coupling gel and works in non-contact measurement. Also, he will share his research findings on the elasticity measurement for the skin.
